Nürnberg, 2024 — Following a renovation, Deutsche Bahn (DB) has unveiled its newly redesigned travel center at Nürnberg’s main train station. This modernized space emphasizes enhanced customer service and a more personalized experience for travelers, while carefully preserving the station’s iconic Jugendstil architecture. A key element of the redesign is the use of innovative materials like Kerrock, seamlessly blending functionality with a warm, inviting aesthetic.
The revamped center offers several improvements aimed at optimizing the passenger experience. A larger reception area now features two service counters, with a dedicated team on hand to promptly assist travelers. One standout feature is the state-of-the-art call-up system, which ensures passengers are guided efficiently from the reception to the service counter, minimizing wait times. Additionally, passengers can now receive estimated waiting times and have the option of getting their tickets sent directly to their smartphones.
The waiting area has also been reimagined, providing a more comfortable space that caters to a wide range of needs, including enhanced accessibility for travelers with mobility challenges. Notable features include adjustable service counters for wheelchair users, an induction loop for hearing aid wearers, tactile floor strips, and overall reduced waiting times.
Kerrock, a versatile, premium material, plays a central role in the design and functionality of the new space. The surfaces, designed in 100 (Arctic White) and 101 (Polar White), are sleek and easy to maintain, perfectly complementing the warm, natural tones of the furniture. This creates a contemporary yet welcoming atmosphere. Known for its smooth finish and exceptional durability, Kerrock is ideally suited for the high-traffic environment of the travel center, combining aesthetic appeal with long-lasting performance.
Stefanie Berk, board member of Marketing and Sales at DB Fernverkehr AG, expressed enthusiasm about the revamped center, stating, “DB Reisezentren are critical touchpoints for our customers. By merging personal service with digital innovations, we are elevating the passenger experience. We are excited about the future of our travel centers and are committed to offering even greater comfort and efficiency to millions of travelers.”
